  • Part time jobs with dealerships

Just curious if anyone has had experience with part time work at dealerships? I have always wanted to work at a dealership, and would like to maintain something part time wile I'm off this summer and back in university (last year and a half), just something to keep up with the industry, it's not so much for money but more for work experience and to maintain use of time this summer (as I have left my full time job).

    Thanks guys!

It depends if you're looking to get into sales or service. I can see there being potential opportunities in service (detailer, shuttle driver etc) but not in sales as in sales you have to be available any time for a customer meeting or delivery.

Yeah pretty sure the real only opportunity will be a detailer. But hey you never know unless you try!

Don't mind that, looking for something to kill my time that doesn't involve retail.

Though I just found a company looking for geology students...

i did this when i was younger.. was a wash monkey, helped techs with random stuff, drove customers downtown or shuttle cars to peoples homes, etc

it was fun and got to drive a lot of cars too

I have a few friends in geology, if you have an opportunity to get your foot in the door with an O&G company in a geology role you need to take it! One of the only ways you can get a full time gig with them is by having prior O&G experience. One of my good buddies has been the lead geologist at a gold mine the last 6 years and still cant get into O&G. Opportunities like this are ones that you should take

Re: Part time jobs with dealerships

I found about 20 companies looking for geology interns this summer, and none of them called me back. It's really hard to get in, and my marks aren't poor by any means. If you can get the geology job, do it! I was "lucky" enough to get a job with the U of C as a hydrogeology research assistant. Anything related looks good on the post undergraduate resume.

Contrary to popular belief, you don't just walk into a geology job anymore like the old days.

Makes me feel like my degree will be worthless! I'm not exactly the best student. Nor do I take a ton of initiative.

Well i still have another year left, but hopefully it's easier to find a full time job than an internship.

Stick with it! Other faculties aren't much better.

lot attendant would probably be your entry level dealership job.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
