Re: Sooo? Thoughts?
So the idea is we can be tracked and tolled for driving (monitored where we go in the city). How would this work for visitors? People who commute into the city for work? Not going to happen, too many "what if" situations and a clear breach of privacy.

Re: Sooo? Thoughts?
This is pretty ridiculous and really does seem to be motivated by greed; what are the costs for driving going to be and where is that money going to be spent, are a couple of questions that instantly pop up, not to mention that you will all be paying to set up the system too. Calgary is already becoming a stupidly expensive city to live in (honestly London is cheaper in a lot of categories) but I really do not get what the point is, are they short on money for infrastructure or is it really just a combination of getting the big brother system rolling and raking in a few extra millions to make the job of Councillors easy?
Generally toll roads provide an advantage such as a faster route, higher speed limit or better road, to provide value for the toll, this is basically an attempt to toll every road with no benefit to the user. This would also place a massive burden on the transit system, as for many taking transit now will be a lot cheaper than the cost of a car, insurance, registration, fuel and now tolls but somehow I am not sure they have considered that and would not be prepared for such a shift.Blair

Re: Sooo? Thoughts?
I agree that it is backed by greed and money grabby ness. Plus toll roads for certain areas would not be that bad of an idea as the roads would not be anywhere close to the **** we daily drive on now. But at the same time Money money money,-Terry

this would never fly. people will just find a way around it. someone already mentioned to extra burden to transit. i'm sure many licence plates would be stolen, to avoid paying yourself. using an unregistered plate is only $172. just like talking on the phone, you would have to be caught first. and there's not enough cops to handle it. the city can't fix their own problem they created by taxing those who have been pushed further away by the city's own design. they have no idea how to manage traffic, just control it. maybe they think there will be less cars on the road? less maintenance, easier to control? i do however think that there should be a fee to ride/park your bike into the downtown core. bikes want lanes, make them pay with a licencing system. oh and Mac Logan needs to be fired.you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
