  • High Output Car Battery

    Hey guys!
I'm in need of a new battery for my GLI, i had a standard motomaster one from Canadian Tire the past few years and it has recently died over the winter. Wondering if anybody has any experience with decently powerful batteries or if people recommend me to just go with a standard battery because i have a 200A alternator (150A @ idle, so if the comps run at idle it will start drawing down my battery). I have approximately a 160-170A draw when the car is running and all the compressors are going, not sure how big a battery that warrants really or if my alt will keep up with 90% of the draw.

    Has to be:
47 size (no generic optima crap, i want this a standard bolt down in my standard battery box. However if possible i have room to go with a tdi bolt down box if that helps/will give me more power)
Not a dumb/standout color in my engine bay (no yellow top optima crap)
Powerful enough to run my stuff

Any preferences out there for you guys or good places to check out in the city?

    Sean

Unfortunately that battery is too big to fit in the OEM spot of a 47 series battery :(

Anybody have any experience with XS Power batteries? The D4700 seems to be very close to what i'm looking for in terms of direct OEM replacement and performance

Would fit fine. Dont pay attention to the measurements on that link

          Group 47 - 000 915 105AD, Battery
          Group 48 - 5K0 915 105G, Battery

According to my catalog the GLI should have a 48
