here's your answer. Think of it this way, drive what you have and just think about owning something to your potential once you graduate. The last thing you need is impractical debt while your in university.

nothing wrong with the 335i, throw some decent wheels on and your set. I like pushing getting custom finishes on wheels cause they can make a sos so wheel look amazing. Also switching wheels up brings interest back to the car.

Its a loss hobby, just do it cause it makes you happy and forget about the costs

This is very true, not nearly bad as my old hobby (shooting, you literally shot your money away...). I was just planning on throwing some BBS CK's on, I like the OEM look on BMWs.

fter graduating the plan is to get a 911

My savings are to pay off my last two years of uni

Soon I should be hopping on with an oil company and making some money to put away for that goody I did some time with one a few summer ago, that's how I got the money for my 335 haha. If anyone knows of one who needs a Petro Geo major im all ears... Field experience is awesome!

You guys are right though... Keep the 335, it's a solid car, but spruce it up a bit.

Set yourself a budget and try to fit any mods into that budget. I decided on my car that the total with all mods can't be higher than $7000

              I'm currently close to $5500.

I don't know about any of you but I've spent alot more on parts, maintenance and mods then I ever did on the cars themselves. The value of the car after is not even close to what I have in them, but does that mean I'm going to make the "smart" decision and quit spending on the car? No Way!!
Spending money on the car isn't about smart, its something I love. Trying to justify it is impossible.
I look at it like this. I could always eat at home, never splurge and never have fun. Sure I'd have money in the bank but I'd be bored off my ass and thats not fun at all. Besides my buddy just dropped $13g on some heads for his Dart. So I don't feel so bad.

                  Question...

Would you guys fix the small rust spot, bumper and clearcoat chip now... Or get new rims/tires? My front tires are completely bald... But I don't like my poor baby looking crappy.

I wouldn't really care about rock chips, I mean you can fix that decently by yourself. Rust, I would make that my first priority, since it will get very nasty and expensive if you don't take care of it immediately. Tires, always get the best you can afford, that last thing you want to happen is destroying your car because you had crappy tires. Wheels, one day the right one will appear, I don't suggest getting brand new ones of well known brands because they're just overpriced, but reps and new companies sure, and don't freak out because of made in china, it's all fine just don't go too cheap on things.

This is what I did, took me a solid five years, but I got there. I drove a Mazda while in school, the cheaper the better.
The Porsche runs me about $1/km to drive since it is driven so little and I'm anal about it. Don't worry about the way your car looks while in school, your only true worry and focus should be school if your planning on going into a professional career. Save the cash now so you have money for maintenance later.

I'd say a 335i is good for a student anyways Tops the civic's and such.

Can't let her look bad though.
