  • Slamming a Vehicle with Factory Air Suspension

Mom's GL550 have the airmatic suspension setup and it looks very cool everytime it slams itself for unloading cargo. I would love to just slam the suv when it's parked, releasing the air pressure. I need some help from the airlift gurus to hard park my GL, I'm thinking some sort of electronically controlled air release valve near the air shocks, so pressure can be released in the flick of a switch after I park it.

Tee off of each bag line with a solenoid valve. Tie all solenoid valves to one switch. Power switch from battery. Just figure out where the lines are, their size, and if there are any current fittings that you can use to insert your tee/solenoid valve combinations.

For other Mercedes like the E55 you have to go and physically change the location of the sensor...

You can change the settings on the computer to tell it where it should be . I think h&r has a kit too

Yeah, I know they make sensor mounts, renntech make air suspension lowering modules, but I want it absolutely slammed when parked, and stock for driving.

I will add something that will be a little more helpfull , The valves on the airmatic struts are part of the strut assembly so the option of adding solinoid valves is not something that can be done easily. I have never tried to take on apart a mb airstrut so I can not really help on the bypass for slamming but I would think that you would need to be able to power off the suspention controller so that it does not auto fill based on minimum hight, and then you would need to figure out how to dump the air that remains in the bags via the factory solinoid valve.
Been driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive

The only way to override the controller would be to shut the vehicle off and then dump the air out of the struts with the solenoid. You would want to find the air lines that lead to the strut, cut them, add a T and put a solenoid on one end that vents to atmosphere.

I cant imagine this being good on the compressor if you did it every time you parked the car though. Thats a lot of air for what I'm guessing is a pretty small compressor to fill up each time.
