  • Tactical boots?

I'm in the market to buy some boots for all season wearing.
I've been considering getting a pair of tactical boots.

Anyone else have some boots like these and care to make a recommendation?

I'm looking for something waterproof, breathable, lightweight and that looks like a boot, not like a tall sneaker and optionally if it has a side zipper that would be even better.

Some of the ones I'm looking at:

    Haix Airpower P7 - High

    5.11 Tactical ATAC Storm 8"

Magnum Men's Interceptor 8.0 Side Zipper Waterproof Tactical Boot 5878SZWP

    Original SWAT 1232

    Original Swat 132001 Chase 9"

    Rothco Forced Entry 5052

Hit walmart. I bought a $50 pair of brahama work boots and they were perfect (until I left them too close to the fire and the soles came off lol) super comfy, waterproof, looked like timberlands but came in like 30 different styles and affordable!

5.11, Original Swat, Oakley (although they are revamping their line up I hear) are just some.

Swat boots are ok but they will only last about 4-5 months. They cost about 130. I went for a par of han wags boots, there handmade German leather with a lifetime warranty from the place I got them. They come in gore tex or not gore tex. They are amazing boots but not cheap, I paid $350 for mine with a military discount. But there worth every penny!

I would highly recommend 5.11 boots. However, if you are looking for more slightly more affordable Original Swats aren't a bad choice. Keep in mind that steel/composite and CSA approved boots cost a wee more if you are looking for protection like that. Read up on the differences of 6" vs. 8/9" boots as they support you in different ways

The ATAC Storm and the Haix P7 are my current favorites.

If the Haix had the side zipper, despite the price, it would be a no brainer.

              Re: Tactical boots?

Don't get bent up on the zipper, I've worn combat boots almost everyday for the last 5-6 years...the zippers are all junk and explode. Get laces. Magnums will not last long either,

              Look up,
              Hanwag
              Lowa boots
              Rocky boots

Those are the ones most guys on base choose to rock. Swats are ok if your working a office job, they loose support and tread life is bad. All the boots I suggested come with vibram soles as well.

That little air bubble on the Original Swats is garbage. It will separate from the sole and then make the most annoying popping sound when walking.

Danners are great boots too, priced well and last a long time. Also come in gore tex or non gore tex.

                          Re: Tactical boots?

Thanks to advice here I have decided to not worry about the side zipper.

I took a look at the Danners and there's a lot of styles, some look pretty nice, Brahamas were not available here, the Hanwag were a bit too pricey for a first forray into this style boots.

I'm probably going to get the Haix P7 High since there's a sale currently and I "love" the look of that boot.

I won't wear the boots every day but reading some reviews I think they will provide me with the waterproof, lightweight and breathability qualities I was hoping for.

I didn't know there was so many people on here interested in these kinds of boots. I'll write a review of the boots once I've worn them for a while.

Get a pair of redwings and never look back. Best work boots ever.
