Paul Walker and Why We Care So Much.
As you all know the, car community has taken a tragic loss. Saturday afternoon we lost two very well respected members of the car community Paul Walker, and Roger Roda. Over the last few days I’ve had people ask me “Why do you care so much, it’s not like you know him” time and time again I was speechless, I now have my answer for all of you . When The Fast and the Furious released I was only 8, all I remember saying is “That’s cool I want to do that one day”. That one movie started it all; it started the foundation on which we all stand on today. It took car enthusiast to a whole another level we went from being hated by the community to it being socially acceptable.
Paul himself was a true gearhead at heart, and as the movies progressed so did his knowledge and love for cars. He became that role model that everyone wanted to be, he was never the one with the best car, or with the best driving skill. He was a true enthusiast in and out of the movies; it wasn’t just a role he played in a film. His collection of cars is phenomenal it’s not your average famous person’s garage which is full of super cars. His garage is what we dream of, and some of which have been in a most of the FnF movies which includes a Nissan Skyline, and although few of us have met him we all feel like we lost a friend, someone who had the same passion for cars that we have. Having not met him personally I cannot speak on how his personality was, but from the role he played in the community, and from what his friends and family say, I honestly feel like he was a down to earth, genuine person.
I’ve asked myself multiple times if it hadn’t been for FnF would I be so into cars like I am now, I really don’t know but what I do know is that it influenced a lot of the younger generation and you can see it to this day the impact it has made. We all thank you for everything that you have done and for being a role model to a lot of us. One thing I will always remember is that Paul Walker aka Brian O’Connor said he was only in it for the respect, and the way he carried himself outside the movies made that statement true. Paul died doing something he loved doing with one of his closest friends and we all hope that he left this world a happy man. From everyone here at Lowered Standards and every Car Enthusiast in the world we would like to send our prayers to Paul and Roger’s family, friends, and anybody that is affected by their death. We know you will always be looking down on us, tearing it up in Paradise.
May both of you Rest In Peace
