  • Xbox Friday?

Anyone else going to try and pick one up? i'm thinking a walmart or superstore should be no issues snagging one but i was also thinking perhaps wait until after christmas to see if the HW shits the bed or not like the first generation 360s

ps.. i can't believe it has a giant power brick again

    Re: Xbox Friday?

I am not sure what the supply will be like in Calgary, but here things are fairly tight with all the pre-sales and so first day consoles are well sold out and I believe even Amazon cannot guarantee a unit before Christmas at this point. Not sure if some places will just have stock but personally with the exception of Forza 5 I am not really too bothered at this point, plus they are £429.99 over here. I use my Xbox for a lot of apps over here and seems like a lot are not ready on the One yet so would kind of need both for a while anyway.

They did have both the XOne and the PS4 in my local Game store yesterday and they both look pretty big in person!

yea.. i'll see what i can get.. if nothing i'm not too worried honestly..

one thing i like is the larger hard drive so you can just download games now.. i know you could on the 360 but i never tried since mine was a 1st gen unit with a small HD.

I've had mine on pre-order for a couple months now. I'm just getting it shipped to the office though... I'm not standing outside in line!

I'm waiting. I consider myself a gamer, but new consoles are always shakey. Plus I'm a Xbox guy through and through but this time around things may be different so I'm also waiting for things to pan out a little while first.

Picking up a pre-order on Friday, you're probably right on Walmart or Superstore being your best bet to pick one up if you haven't put your name down. May be worth looking in to if costco is getting them too. I know EB/Gamestop only has enough to cover their pre-orders unless people back out.

I ordered in July from Microsoft. My Xbox was shipped on November 13th via UPS, should be at my door Friday.

Can't put your Nintendo Games in an N64 either.

Either way, no reverse compatibility is stupid. Won't be buying either new system, don't play nearly enough and I just bought GTA5 for 360 anyways.

Best thing to do is wait for there to be at least 3-4 killer games on the system, buying now with the lame launch titles and inflated price... I just don't see the point.

I never quite get the desire for backwards compatibility; if the old games are so good, there is no need to get a new system or vice-versa. How many of those 60 games do you play regularly?

I still want to see how it all shakes out with the new consoles, what people actually say when they use them and such, but yeah just not enough titles I am really too interested in, so I think the 360 will carry me for a while, plus mine is only 1.5 years old with the 250gig HD so I can make do for a while. The install size on some of the Xbox One titles looks like it could burn through that 500gig quickly though.

Yeah I know what your saying. I don't play all 60 games but to me it's pointless to take them in and get 5 bucks a game kind of thing. Plus I am a nerd and need the series, for example I have all the call of duty, gears of war, halo.

I totally understand, I am very much a collector too, not games but I still love buying movies, but there is a lot of re-usability there and I watch a lot of movies. I guess I am not really into the multiplayer games, but I tend to only have a couple on the go at a time so I guess it makes sense to move them on afterwards as I will not likely play it again. The thing I wish Microsoft would do is lower the price for games on demand, why would I pay the same price for a game like GTAV and download it (currently can be found for cheaper in disc format anyway) while I can buy the disc version and still maybe get a few bucks for it down the road. Just like music and such I think there needs to be a reduction in price for 100% digital content, plus should be less overhead, middlemen and production costs on their end so some savings should be passed on to the consumer.
