If you are good to go with DSL then I still recommend TekSavvy.
Looks like in Alberta they use Telus DSL lines and not Shaw cable.

    25MB unlimited $55/month
    25MB 300 GB limit $45/Month

Those are their normal prices, not a 6 month promotional price either.

Re: best company to go with for tv/internet?

I use Shaw for Internet and TV. I own my TV boxes, have ~ 100-120 channels with about 40 of them being HD, and my internet is supposed to be their basic at like 7.5mb speed, but b/c I complained numerous times about how I can often times barely connect to the internet, they bumped me up to the 25mb speed, which I still can't connect to sometime.

I believe I pay $119/month or $124. It sucks and I'm not happy at all. They claim they can no longer give discounts and couldn't drop my pricing down to my original promo pricing b/c of "industry rules". So instead, they just charged me the same amount for faster speeds for 6 months. I'm changing in 6 months b/c they are crap.

Does anyone know if there's any way with Shaw's old boxes, if you can sort your program guide to show you what channels you actually have??? WAY back in the day, they'd be greyed out. Now they aren't and so I don't even bother looking to see if I have some channels b/c they'll be hidden in a block of ones I don't.

ya and you would pay pretty much what you are paying today.
dont kid yourself, you're only really paying for 12 channels today, they're just htrowing the other 300 in for free as part of a bundle.

This debundling wont change much for your average user, just like 2yr contracts on cell phones didn;'t lower or change billing

I agree, I think the single channel system will be priced so that it will not make much difference for the average user. The only advantage will be that it might allow you to add one channel to your lower tier bundles and avoid stepping up to the next level by a couple dollars.

For comparison sake here we have Virgin Media Fiber Optic internet which is 100mb and unlimited bandwidth and we pay £39.50 a month which is about $66.25, all in taxes included. For TV we have Freeview which we pay for the TV license alone which is £145.50 ($244.30) for a year and that gives us about 50 channels and access to all the web apps such as iPlayer and 4oD. They do have premium TV through Sky or Virgin but the costs go up a lot and you have to still pay the TV license no matter what, it is law and the fine for avoiding it is pretty steep too.
