    Re: Watch and Share!

Im on board with what Ben said, everyone slams on their brakes as soon as they see anything, no one lets anything flow anymore. The flow of traffic here is awful, everyone knows the left lane is the fastest, so they go there, then merge right to get off at their ramp, but they do it last second so theyre in the left lane as long as they can be. That means they slow down to get in front of behind (usually in front) of people to merge off)

It seems like 99% of people cant be bothered to be prepared for their route because theyd rather just be their the fastest.
    I take pictures for money.

The first rule of driving is knowing where you are going (essentially having a destination or else whats the point of driving?) And i'd say 80% of the people have no f*ckin clue on where they are going.....

I see this all the time, especially from people going from the crowchild flyover to merge into the glenmore east lanes, they have probably 7-800 meters before the road splits into 14th from glenmore but no, "as soon as humanly possible I need to merge or I might not make it into that lane!" seems to be the mentality of most of the drivers which again slows the flow as they brake to find a spot to move over, its retarded.

              Re: Watch and Share!

I do agree that many places in BC need to have the speed limit raised.

But there is one point that was overlooked and makes this video a lot less worthy in my opinion: stopping distances.

The faster you go, the longer your reaction time and the longer your braking time. That is the reason for speed limits, how fast can you be going on this road and still have time to react and everyone be safe?

In a 3 lane highway with a wide shoulder, there is lots of space to switch lanes in an emergency. On a one lane road in the city with a sidewalk, there is only your braking power.

In the video the guy goes on about various reasons to raise the limit, but the "safe speed" is not the 85th percentile only. It depends largely on the road and the environment around it.

                Re: Watch and Share!

someone mentioned that we should just lower our expectations of other drivers out there. that's BS. you should always have high expectations of the other driver. i'm not interested in driving around thinking/knowing that everyone around me is less skilled and therefore lowering the expectation i have of them is a scary thought. we know that terrible drivers exist but as a drivers, we should all have high expectations of others around us on the roads. and by high expectations, i mean that, i expect a driver to know how to properly merge. if we all give up and expect that nobody can do that, where does that leave us on the road? everyone has to conform to the lowest common denominator of shitty drivers? no thanks.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
