so hard to say a rough price just because theres so many different sizes avaiable now, i would say plan on spending anywhere from $850 (smaller sizes) up to 1600 (larger sizes)

            Just my opinon though
Agree with this. I had studded tires on my R32 for one season and it was not only a waste, but incredibly annoying whenever driving on dry roads. While incredible on packed ice, they make dry pavement feel slippery while city driving. I can still remember the sensation of drifting side to side at speeds of 90+ on Deerfoot. I'd only ever have them on 2nd set of winters for extreme weather days/weeks.

Yep. I'll probably try out the new R2's this year.

              No studs for me.

I went and actually looked at the Hakka 7s and I'm still sold the studded tires are the way to go for me. I can remember last year a couple of times going through the park in the S4 with Blizzaks and the roads we icy and it was pretty wiggly. Without the electronic nannies and Quattro I'd feel better driving with some studs (the little metal kinds embeded in tires).

I have hakka 5's for my jetta, and had 7's for my previous passat and loved them. I went with general altimax with studs for the jeep and wished I had went the Nokian route with those. The vehicle is completely different, but I found the generals to be louder and not have the same grip as what I was used to with the nokians. The studs on the Nokians are also holding in better then the general's are as well which surprises me considering the jetta has more wheel slippage with the high torque and fwd.
