  • Headphones???

Well I am in need of a new pair of headphones and looking for some suggestions. I previously had a pair of the Urbanears Medis and I very much like the fit but the sound was only so so and they failed at the jack connector. I prefer something in the in ear/bud style (not a fan of the big Beats by Dre look) and I am not sure on the budget but probably under $100, and do to the recent fail I would like an L-shaped jack to reduce wear from my use.

Some items I am looking at Nocs NS400, SoundMagic E10, Sennheiser MM50 and Audio Technica ATH-CKS50

Any experience or recommendations would be appreciated.

I have Sennheiser and like them, but if I had to buy again I most likelly would have went with a smaller over ear.

        Re: Headphones???

For earbuds... honestly its not going to matter that much IMO.

Most important thing is probably going to be comfort especially if you wear them while travelling or for long periods.

I love Audio Technica products and I think you can't go wrong with them.

You can also get the entry level Shure / Etymotic / Westone products under $100 which have a lot of science behind them, maybe a bit overpriced though at times.

Lastly there are a lot of audiophiles on the web who swear the best cheap earbuds are by Yuin, PK-1 and PK-2, they are online only I think. I have never tried them though.

Honestly, I've always been happy with Skullcandy earphones. They range from ~$30-$80 depending on the model, and IMO they perform much better than Bose, Shure etc. Highs/Lows/Mids sound very balanced and well composed. Build quality on the higher end models is very good too.

edit: here's a link to their products. Skullcandy

I have kicker ear buds and they sounds pretty good IMO. I personally like them more than the skull candy and other brands I've tried.

I hated my skull candy headphones, i only use Kicker. They are the best for the price.

Best ear buds for ~$100, hands down, Klipsch S4i. Nothing compares for that price point, if you are looking to ball out on ear buds, Shure E4c.

I've always enjoyed Sennheiser ear buds, specifically the CX300II model. Found some online for about $60. They fit so well to my ear that they attenuate about 10dB of ambient. Work great on planes too.

Completely disagree, Dre beats are all hype. You can get MANY better headphones - just not at places like future shop.

Anyway, I also think that Bose noise cancelling is quite overhyped. Audio Technica all the way and probably Sony for my 2nd choice - I've listened to all 3 back to back.

My personal opinion on beats is they are complete garbage. You'd think coming from such a good producer they'd be good, but they are crap. Way over priced as well, nothing is worth that much for a logo on your ear.

                              Klipsch, Sennheiser, Shure.
