NO, YOU are wrong. they did. ask me how i know? because i replaced timing chains and adusters on a W8 6MT passat 4motion so i can personally say that they do exist because i have driven one. amazing engines, but be prepared to dig deep into those pockets.

B6 A4 avant (1.8T or 3.0, doubt you can go wrong with either)
Subaru WRX
Mitsubishi Evo VIII

Cant really think of other AWD cars that are fun to drive and under 10K

those are a pretty solid car. doesn't have your AWD though. i was interested in the same thing as you and ended up finding a 3.0l a4 avant with a 6 speed, for less than that passat.

i missed that. i didn't think passat came with 4 motion with 1.8t and manual gearbox. i thought 2.8/w8 only. worth checking out then. and the engine sits like that in the passat since it's basically an a4, in case you were not aware.
