Oil Pan Heater-ProHeat Products Inc

To deal with the -40 temperature in Yellowknife, I fitted an oil pan heater from ProHeat Products Inc (www.engineheaters.com) They were great to deal with and installation was very easy. $68.75 plus shipping.

The Model 512 fits the 2.7T oil pan perfectly.


I loaded up on the kit-supplied high heat silicone.

I got one of these on my GLI, works fine for those super cold days but a coolant recirculator/heater works even better to heat up the entire block. Had one in my last jetta and it worked great

looks nice! i would def put one on a 2.7t parked outside in the winter.. those cold startups scare me so bad that something is going to grenade.

I had both on my ALH TDI, The heat is great, but then you have to be careful with popping breakers.

Greggs Distributors has lots to choose from, different wattage's and some with temperature switches.

Any idea where I could pick one up? Is it something I can install myself?

You could install a Webasto but I think these are expensive and only work on diesel.

We got a couple of the webasto heaters that run on gas. Going on a couple of the shop cars likely.

They work great. check them for scars the first time you plug them in in the fall - especially if you run without a skid plate.

On that note...if you have the plastic belly pads, these have been known to cause fires if they seperate from the oilpan. They do work well tho!

My old MK4 came with one and I ended up ripping it off the oil pan from being too low. Worked great while it was still on there though!
