    Re: Epic flooding

They just said on CTV that if the water goes up any more that they'll have to start closing parts of Deerfoot. They also said that there's a good chance that parts of Deerfoot will be washed out if that happens.

pretty much the only bridge across the river at this point. there's no other way through the city unless you take stoney east and make your way around the SE to 22x. but i have no idea about those road conditions. good luck and sorry for your loss.

there are some boil water alerts in the NW, i heard, so might want to bring some water with you just in case. walmart by my house was sold out.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

No boil water advisories around here yet, but my parents had me pick some up just in case while I was out filling up the cars with gas. Co-op and Sobeys were both sold out... had to get the water at the gas station.

I think I will try the east route, stoney around to 22x, if its backed up I'll take 16th, go further east, and connect to 22x. Hope no members here were effected severely by this.

yea they just said SB deerfoot to blackfoot is shut down. and yes, some of the water alerts might be hearsay but it's not going to hurt to find some and be prepared for one.

According to CTV, the water level was dropping a little bit over in Eau Claire. It's supposed to remain more or less steady for a while from what I'm hearing.

People are also being very generous... And by generous I mean ****s.

Apparently one Mac's store is charging $32 for a 12 pack of water.

On a side note, this was posted on the city website...

Mandatory evacuations remain in place for portions of several communities. The downtown core between 9 Avenue and the river from Macdonald Bridge to 14 Street W will be closed as of 5 pm Friday. There will be local traffic allowed only.

                              Posted at 15:30,

The quality of drinking water remains very high.

The City is asking residents to limit water use, wherever possible in order to reduce their demand on drinking water treatment plants.

The very high river flows have resulted in high levels of silt and debris in the water coming into The City’s drinking water treatment plants. This silt is starting to slow down the treatment process, creating a growing load on the filtration processes. As a result, it is taking longer to treat the incoming water with presents a challenge to meet water demand.

The drinking water quality remains very high, and any help that Calgarians can provide by reducing the amount of water to be treated will help ensure that this quality can be met going forward.

The City asks that Calgarians limit water use as much as possible by following a few simple steps:
                              • Limit showers to five minutes and keep baths shallow
                              • Use washing machines and dishwashers only when absolutely necessary and only with full loads
                              • Turn off taps when brushing teeth or shaving
                              • Reduce toilet flushing

For anyone that has been to that casino knows how high those stairs are at the entrance.... you know the ones you can't see anymore. My guess is a good 4-5th of water at least.
