  • Garage Floors?

Anyone know if I can hire someone to coat my cement garage floor in some kind of rubbarized durable coating? Would also like to get industrial rubber baseboards put in or something similar. Not keen to do the work myself...

      Re: Garage Floors?

When my dad did his garage, he went with Garage Strategies.

      http://www.garagestrategies.com/floor_coating.htm

His looks like "Ralph's Floor" in the examples.

What I've noticed is that the texture on the coating holds grime so unless you're Johnny-on-the-Spot cleaning up messes (soak with kitty litter/simple wipe with a rag), anything short of pressure washing is a pain in the arse to keep clean. That said, it's pretty strong and doesn't stain easily or chip away with minor abrasions. Drop something heavy and it will chip.

For the price, I'm not sure the hefty premium the warranty/labour/brand name Garage Strategies charges is worth it over your average DIY product that you'd buy for a couple hundred at Canadian Tire. I've seen the self-applied product and it's not quite as robust... but if you're not using daily/industrially... I'd save the bucks for other things. (And I know you said not into the DIY, but, it's relatively painless.)

Would some sort of epoxy paint work better? Might be a bit slipperier in the wet if you don't put a non-slip but it would keep fluids from seeping into the cement and it would be easy to wash and clean up afterwards. It's what we use on all of our skids at work.

That Garage Strategies product looks pimp, I would be down for that. BUT... Edmonton only...? I need someone to do the work as much as I need the product, I know its just rollering it on probably but I just have 1000 home projects right now and every one I can oursource is a victory Garage is low priority so unless somebody does it on the sly I won't be able to put any time in.

I just copied/pasted 'Polyaspartic Polyurea Floor Coating calgary' and searched on Bing, here are the first four results (though there are plenty more):
