  • Need some welding help!

Sup guys, so I know a lot of you guys can weld, and hopefully you are willing to help me out with a pretty small job. All I have is two notches cut out of my (1/8" steel) frame and 3" inner diameter (1/4" steel wall) pipe to weld in place. I kinda fcked up one side a little bit so I gotta weld in a little filler piece. I will have all the metal cut out and pretty much ready to weld. Unfortunately I do not have a welder so someone will have to bring their own. Unfortunately I only have access to 120v receptacles. Please let me know if you can help me out! Also I have a few people willing to do the welding, only they do not have an easily movable welder. So if you have a welder but lack the time to do the work, and you are okay with lending me your welder, please let me know!

Can pay with beer, cash, or other parts that I have for sale. Will give more beer if you teach me how to weld :P Let me know! 403-607-3499

No welder to lend, but what's the point of the pipe? Are you welding anything else to the butt ends?

For structural rigidity. No, I wanna weld the pipe directly to the frame. On the pass side, there's literally no gap to fill other than a small portion on the back.

Be sure you bevel the pipe's outer edge to about a 37.5* angle before you weld it to the frame. You want some penetration in there for rigidity. If it were just a conduit of sorts then spot welds on the surface would be okay, but if you're trying to make the pipe a stressed member, be sure you get some weldment deposited into both the car and pipe.

Clean everything about an inch on either side of the weld zone with a file or touch it lightly with the grinder disc first, to eliminate any possible contamination. Don't use a solvent-type degreaser.
