I have finally awoken from my coma thankfully the bullet just bounced around in the vast emptiness up there.
To be honest the article wasn't the worst thing i have read and it does lightly cover important topics like unsprung weight weight distribution etc etc.
Some easy things to remember are if its FWD don't bother if its heavy don't bother and if the weight distribution is bad don't bother. eg my S4 was terrible on the track due to being so heavy up front my A4 is a much better platform handling wise.
If anybody is interested in some reading they should check out some of these books.

All of Carroll Smiths books are good and relatively readable a little more focused on racing but the same rules apply.
I have the Going Faster book if someone would like to borrow it the others I am sorry but we don't lend them out as we use them fairly often during the season.
WTF to the Apex book from GT5 I would like to see this.
