Off topics seem to be my problem lately. I apologize, but for too long this forum has slowly turned into a group of people unregulated into misinformation , I have been working on the vag cars since 1994 .I have been building show cars for 10 years and have been one of the top guys in modifying all brands and makes of cars for as long as i have been driving ,I look to many people around north America for information on problems and solutions of many of the cars we all drive. when i say something on this forum i do not just pull the info from my ass . i often will converse with the industry professionals to confirm my valid points. when it comes to the b5 s4 . I mock this car for personal reasons, everyone that has one knows i mean no harm accept the obvious flaws of difficulty to work on , and the b5 chassis is so old it is showing its age in the rust area ,(people i see them daily trust me they are all starting to rot ) I am the guy that gets to look into the eyes of a nice little family and say i realize you just bought this tdi but to get it running its going to cost 6500 in parts and labor. I know its only got 140,000 kms but the fuel pump let go. So when i hate on a car its because i get to see the result first hand .Please And if i don't know something i call around and find out an educated answer. Sure i am a dick everyone knows it .But you all also know i never would not help anyone out to get the answer, or help they need to fix a problem performance wise or repair wise that they are having. So if you guys think i am off lets do it right here . I will be all ears to discussions you think i have no idea about .I do not know everything, i just know a ton about the cars we love .

BTW, I can attest to both Chris' hate for the B5 and his willingness to help even a B5 owner with his car
Not a dick, IMO, just forthright with his opinions which are backed up with years of experience.--

As Rod corrected. People will be more willing to listen/read when it isn't a giant brick of text. Add some spaces up in that *****.

I think some people bring very very valid points that you completely dismiss because you believe you are right. You should be more willing to look into the information that people post, because there are times when everybody is wrong with information, you just have to be willing to accept that there are other opinions/thought/facts out there other than the ones that are currently in your head.
You are an extremely opinionated guy, as am I. You bring experience, I personally bring experience too and new thoughts/ideas to the table. You weren't able to back up your calculations when i asked you to, you just simply ignored the fact that i put together some calculations and actually did the math rather than guesstimated because of your "years of experience". So when we argue and you bring facts, i verify them. I do my own research and guess what, most of the time it matches with what you are saying. However when an airlift distributor decides to argue about technical points of an airride system and brings incorrect information to the table, i am going to correct them and let them know exactly what the downfalls of their arguement/system is. Yes it may be the correct system for you individually, i fully agree with that; however you cannot go telling me incorrect information about the system when i have spent far far far more hours in the technical forums on vortex and have help 30+ people set up their systems remotely via phone/text/facebook and gone through troubleshooting with all the various systems. I know what goes wrong, i know what can be done to alter situations and make them more reliable.
MY MAIN POINT:
Let's both take the time to discuss things and provide information to the OP of the certain thread so he can make an informed decision based on his needs rather than jumping to conclusions instead of just jumping on people claiming that we are right. This goes for ALL of us.

Re: Problems with each other
as far as the ride management thing goes. I am a bag riders distributor they sell both kits and i will be using the e level style on my a4 as i feel in that application of many different loads at any given time it is necessary to have a level base system .But in my mk6 i want simple and simple is no extra sensors ..but we beat that horse to death .And I feel you have a great deal of experience with that air ride system so i will take your advise and run sensor based in my next car .But we did get a chance to measure a car that had pressure based system and in one day the temp went from -10 am to plus 10 in the same day and car had only fell by 5 psi . not even measurable height.
You newer guys have to know that i have been dealing with e thugs along time , so its hard to open up to new people when the only interaction i get is seeing the spread of accidental misinformation. As i get back into the scene with you all you will find i am here to help everyone. And with regard to industry bias, I will ask competing companies for thier as well as a cooperative brain storm with others in the resolution of problems we encounter .I then do my best to spread that info to everyone so we all get the best out of the hobby we lovesigpic

ive know Chris for about 5 years now, he's been a real good friend and will definetly help you with an issue with a car, he may come off as a dick, but he's not, he is just brutally honest and voices his opinions.
as for relying on industry proffesionals for his own opinion, he is one of the most knowledgable VAG mechanics/enthusiats that i have ever met, hes been working on this stuff for almost 20 years and definetly has seen/owned his share of VAG cars and knows their ins and outs and repeating issues thats hes seen on customers vehicles. His opinions are his own, i dont always agree with what he says/does, but 98% he has backing/proof for what he does.Current:

Re: Problems with each other
OP -I Don't know you from Adam so I may be way off base, but even in this Apology post your opinion based on your experience is to black and white. I quote:
"people i see them daily trust me they are all starting to rot"
I happen to have an intimate knowledge every inch of my B5 s4 and there is no rust other that minimal on rear suspension components. I have seen many b5s that have no rust. I have seen a few with baddy botched fender rolling attempts that had some rust but that is it. Not all are perfectly clean but not all are rotting. I will give you that and high mileage Alberta car sees more wear an tear that cars from most places that being said i would not paint every Alberta car with those broad strokes.
I recently took of the rear valance of my B8 S4 because I am working on CF diffuser and need to take some measurements of the car. I was blown away by the amount of rust on the hardware in fact the stainless steel lip was completely bombed out in the back and half of the fasteners were completely rusted. This is on a car with 20k on it. When I got back to Calgary I took a look at the same valance that I bought off a member here and surely enough the stainless steel hardware is completely rusted. No where near as bad as mine but still way more than i would expect. Would I be bold enough to say that all B8 S4s are starting to rot? NO! But Cars parked on the Ocean that sit for long times will rust faster.
A strong unyielding opinion will always lead to alienation of customers. I can't see you getting much business from owners of b5s, b5 s4s, TDIs, RS4s....and that may be a shame if you really do have knowledge to share.
Like I stated earlier i don't know you from Adam but I am sure we will meet at one of the events this summer, if it ever arrives. But I can assure you that I will not have the personal view that all wrench twisters from Red Deer are opinionated Shreks. Because it is probably not true.
