Because the guy is clearly saying he has X number of dollars to spend and is wondering what others would get for that price point. However, you seem to be implying he invest that money until he can afford such a car as an r8. Which in theory is not a bad idea, however it'll likely you take a very long time to grow that money into 100k+ (or whatever the price point of a used one is), this is obviously for a car that the OP is thinking of purchasing in the somewhat near future. Therefore kinda rendering your point/opinion non-pertinent.

You can get a decent R32 GTR Skyline if you're looking for a sports car. You can drive it in winter too. Also cars from Japan usually have pretty low mileage. Not so sure about the maintainance and insurance. S2k's insurance is sky high.

You realize parts are next to impossible to get for them? And I bet very few people would work on them without charging you an arm and a leg. That and Japanese imports are beat to all hell and the odometers are all rolled back
