Hey guys, someone stole a friends car last night (March 24, 2013) from the Kal tire on 23rd st and 18th ave, Took it for a joyride, stripped the parts off of it, and took it somewhere and shot up the shell. The police have recovered what is left of the shell. I know it's a little hard to tell parts from parts but if anyone see's, hears, or knows anything please contact me, and the authorities. I am truly disgusted and appalled that someone would do something like this, so any help will be most appreciated. Thank you all very much.

Here's a list of parts taken from the car.

-Borla exhaust and TT header
-Red and black OBX cam gear
-G-grind camshaft
-15x8 Rota shakotan wheels with 165/45/r15 Federals
-Vmax coilovers
-Smoked from bumper markers
-Alpine deck
-Brand new Battery
-Orange 5 pool ball shift knob
-Black GTI airdam
-Weird flat roof rack
-1.8L JH 8v was also stripped from the car

Is this tirebobs old car? ****** makes me so angry that people can do this. Hope karma bites the guy in the ass and he gets ran over by a vw later in life. Good luck, i'll sure keep my eyes open.

Dude I saw that car last night, and it was going like real fast. I didn't know what car it was but for sure I knew it was red! Jesus Christ I can't believe I let it go! Sorry man! I think stalking kijiji is your best bet to find the thieves. I saw it at around 1AM midnight, can't remember where I saw it though, in the North near SAIT is the closest I can think of.

Sounds like this is a shopping list..... someone stealing a mk1 and stripping it is not doing it to sell the parts on a forum or kijiji. These parts are for a specific person or for their own car. Who steals a 1.8L engine?

Sounds legit, if anyone sees a slammed mk1 on those wheels going fast, just pit him. This guys is ruining the name of us the VW owners.

Nobody is going to see this car driving around.... the list of parts are things that were stolen off of the car. I don't think it's going anywhere without an engine in it.

The roof rack is a BIC roof rack, as in Bic lighter brand. It is very old and was purchased by the original owner. I bought it off the second owner, then Bob bought it off me. I miss that car. Is the shell repairable?

The down pipe is a dual outlet TT part. I think it had a weld on it from either fixing the bracket or it had a leak that was located between the two outlets. The muffler was an old school stainless Borla from back in the day. The transmission was a 4k from a gti.

This is not your regular joy ride car theft. To take all that off in what was probably hours you need some preparation and professional equipment. Your best bet is to find the wheels, those rims are the easiest thing to track down, the other parts are going to be hard to find.

But it really sucks!

What i don't get is a 30 yr old mk1 econo box really holds no value... besides sentimental value to the owner. There are so many other cars worth much more and they could have sold the stripped parts to a wider range of people. This car has some parts that stand out and will be easily recognized if posted on kijiji or craigslist. But i guess criminals are pretty stupid though.

It's most likely a mk1 owner stole the parts for his own car like what Popp thought.
