        Re: Munich?

I have never been either but likes look there are plenty of museums; science, air, art and of course plenty of historical buildings to explore. You could get to Stuttgart in a couple hours and see the Porsche facility as well if Automotive events is a priority.

I was in Budapest back in 1998 so I imagine it has changed a fair bit, but perhaps I will see it again come the summer time!

          Re: Munich?

I've been to Munich and I loved it, it was by far my favorite German city.

If you like museums go to the Deutsches Muesum. Awesome technology museum, probably the best technology focused museum in Europe and there is some cool car stuff there.

Marienplatz is the center of town and you will probably want to stay as close to there as possible if you are booking a hotel. Definitely spend a day in the plaza shopping and eating snacks from street vendors. On nice days there are lots of things to see in the plaza like performers, music etc. You can also easily hop onto a train in this area.

HofbrÀuhaus is probably the most famous german "beer hall". It's 2 blocks from Marienplatz and you should definitely go there for a beer or two even if you're not there in the autumn around Octoberfest. Inside it's basically Octoberfest every single day. The beers come in these huge 2L glasses that are pretty famous. I drank two and I don't remember what I did for the rest of that day.
