Re: Importing Cars from the States?

That response that I posted was regarding a 2004 BMW 3 series touring. You can buy a new VW in the U.S. but probably not west coast. There is one dealer that I know of that has no problem selling new VW's to Canadians but he is out on the east coast. We are supposed to have free trade but this is ridiculous.

Not true. Shop around. If you have the will... there is a way. Many dealers will play the "We don't sell to Canadian's car." But not all of them.

        Semi-recent article on the subject:

This. You are 95% correct Andrew, but for some dumb reason, Stampede Toyota is on that list of facilities along with the other 19 Canadian Tire stores lol.

PS. I'd strongly urge anyone getting their RIV inspection done to go to Stampede. You can even book an appointment with them, which I'm not sure you can do with CTire. As a side note, when they checked out my .:R, they spent about 8 minutes commenting on how awesome the R32 was and the other 2 minutes checking boxes on the RIV sheet.

I did mine at Canadian Tire on Tuesday at 8pm, no appointment, just showed up, they check some boxes, read the door jamb, pay the $16 and I was out.
