haha... another car i was looking at if my car was to sell. A big problem with the 07's is that the engine oil bolt can fail. thus needing the whole engine to be replaced. Definitely something to look into. Other than that i have heard that they are awesome cars. i just wish they came with Dsg like the R36 instead of Tiptragic. But from looking on vortex, it seems like the people who own them absolutely love them. I say go for it if the service history and such is good.

As said above, 'tiptragic'. That transmission is crap, and in a heavy car it's even worse. I could never justify it over a 4 door GTI for example.

I'd buy one of those 330xi's I think. Way higher on the luxury scale than a Passat IMO.

personally i would way rather have the 4mo 3.6 passat than the multiple Gti's/Gli's you posted kor. for a similar price you are getting a nicer interior, bigger engine, comfort, more room and especially the biggest factor being all wheel drive.

Eh a matter of taste I guess... I think the bigger engine won't be as fun to drive with the Passat. I don't think it will feel faster on the road.

In terms of interior, some things are better on the Passat but not much, a lot of shared VW parts. But I think the plush passat seats are a little too soft for me, not sporty enough.

Agree AWD is nice. But I would trade AWD for a good transmission ANY day. This is Calgary so most days (like today) I just don't need the AWD... personal thing I guess.

I personally wouldn't take the Mk5 GTI or the Passat, I would probably check out those BMW's and maybe look for an A4 2.0T, or try to stretch the budget for a Mk6 GTI which I think destroys the passat hands down.

I'd buy one of those 330xi's I think. Way higher on the luxury scale than a Passat IMO.

330xi is a nice car (minus the ugly 6 series replica wheels), that one seems to have all the bells & whistles, stay away from the 323i.

well... its tiptronic, so probably pretty bad like all other Vag's tiptronic trans. (at least from what i heared) i just think he should hold out for a manual if he would prefer it. that tiptronic transmission in the passat he originally posted is the only thing holding me back from going to get it. (other than selling my car lol)

I actually have always loved those M6 wheels! Also I had my eye on that ZHP a few months ago. Didn't feel like spending that much though but it's sooooo nice!
