  • Sneaker Thread

Well since the prospect of me buying a new car in the near future is pretty low I have found a bit more time and money to spend on my primary mode of transport, my shoes. Also being in a city such as London, my access to the latest footwear has increased tremendously with several sneaker boutiques, along with giant Nike stores and more exclusive vendors such as 1948 and Dover Street Market.

Since I have been here I have made a few purchases from Supreme Nike SB Dunks to Nike Flyknits and even some rare Barbour Vans to mix it up. Some pairs I have worn, some I have sold, and some are still sitting in the boxes with me to decide what to do with them. Anyway I thought I would see if there was any sneaker fans around here and see what you all think of the latest and greatest shoes from Jordans to New Balance and everything in between.

A few interesting releases coming out soon; first Nike HTM Flyknit Chukkas, these release Saturday here and will probably be in the 200-300 pairs worldwide type range, not sure if I like them, but I do have a pair of the last HTM Flyknits in red sitting around.

Nike Flykint Lunar 1+ is a more accessible version of the HTM Flyknits with the Lunar sole compared with the already available Racers and Trainers.

Reebok Pump Omni Lite HLS, just a very clean simple version of the classic Pump still, in something you could wear all the time.

New Balance 996 Made In The USA Spring Pack, NB is something that is not too popular in Canada but is huge in a lot of places like Asia and Europe and they make some pretty nice shoes, I love the purple ones!

I have some, but don't really follow the "scene" my latest purchase is a sweet pair of low rise Van OTW's in a black velour type material. Had never seen them before, bought them in Vegas. Also have a set of Van pin stripes which I picked up in Seattle (both great for casual fridays).

Still have my Royal Elastic Andy Warhol silver camo's (wear them very occasionally when the weather is nice). And my Y-3 (Yohji Yamamoto) bowling shoes that I also wear very occasionally. I have some original Porsche Design Adidas. Penguin dock shoes. a few more, man, so many haha.

I have been wanting a pair of Converse John Varvatos for a long time as they work for so many things but when I find a pair I like I can't justify the expense (I have a few too many shoes).

Yea, that's the thing, they are good quality with good leather, lots of unique styles for a bargain price (when you consider it).

These are my favourite sneaks, super comfy and have never seen anyone else with a pair. Plus I am a huge Star Wars nerd.

              A few of my current pairs;

Nike Lunar Safari Fuse, got these quite cheap so I just use them for everyday shoes except they are a bit cold for winter time with the light mesh.

Nike Flyknit Racer, more of an exercise shoe for me, very very light and super breathable, but the sole is not my favorite.

Nike Lunarglide 4+ NRG, rare colour combo bought these to resell but still sitting on them, not sure I like them or not.

Nike HTM Flyknit Red, these are limited to 260 pairs worldwide in each of the 6 colours, lucked into a pair and may sell them. I did line up for other colours with no success, shops got like 12 pairs total.

Supreme x Vans Campbell Soup Authentics, just worn a couple times.

Barbour x Vans California Era Wingtips, have not worn them yet but plan on keeping them.

^^I bet you miss the shoe shopping just a little bit Raj

Well the Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+ dropped here yesterday so I am tempted to grab a pair but want to see some of the colour choices in person so I think a visit to Niketown tomorrow will be in order and I think I will try for a pair of the HTM Chukka's on release tonight, but probably to flip as I am not sure about them still, but currently looks like they are releasing at only a few locations worldwide so will be tough to grab.

                  Nike Flyknit Lunar 1+

I also kind of dig these SNS x Reebok Classics 30th Anniversary shoes, they have Codura backpack material and thinsulate so actually make them a good winter sneaker which could come in handy. They are releasing tomorrow here so I will see how the weekend goes!

I'm not a huge sneakerhead, but must agree and prefer that NB doesn't have much of a following here. Like the purple ones too.
Where do you order yours from Blair? I've bought mine locally from the Gallery ($$$!), and the NB shop in Vancouver.
I've had a couple pairs of 1300's, & 574's. These are the last pair I grabbed, which are due to be replaced.

Well I am not sure if anything from here will be cheaper with GBP and 20% VAT but a lot of places still do free shipping worldwide and often you can get the VAT dropped since you are out of the EU.

A few places that have some fun shoes are:

                        http://www.crookedtongues.com/
                        http://www.size.co.uk/

http://www.endclothing.com/ (This one is UK based but has a US mirror site)

I have bought things from a few of them and been to a few of the physical locations as well, as shoe stores are pretty abundant here, I hit up two different Nike Stores on Saturday alone, with only walking between them. No new pickups though.

Thinking about trying to grab a pair of these New Balance x Fingercroxx (Shop in Hong Kong) 580s on Friday, one place is doing in person and a couple others online so should have a shot. They are not my usual colour palette but pretty cool and might be able to make some coin on them if I am unsure.

Well I have not really made any purchases lately, I struck out on the above NBs in a bunch of spots so it was a no go.

I did however grab these Supreme x Vans Power, Lies and Corruption Eras last week that should serve me well in the summer. The design is a little over the top but I like it and it is a nod to a New Order album cover which is a classic to many.
