  • 2014 Corvette Thread

Well I've never had any love for domestics... quite the opposite.

But the press around this new Corvette is pretty good...

They are even saying they finally put in a quality interior... something I NEVER expected.

    Discuss!

ive never liked the corvette. i know you are getting a ton of engine when you buy one, but it just doesnt seem like a very special car. i also dont like the weird quad exhaust tips, and it looks like it is smiling at me from the front. reminds me of a mazda 3 smile. although, if they are putting something other than a bunch of hard plastic in the interior, that is a good thing.

      I like it. Pretty stoked.

The 'Vette gets a lot of hate, because as posted above, it isn't something special.

That is entirely the point, it is supposed to be an affordable sports car, that goes fast. Obviously the upgraded models (Z06, ZR1) are a bit more out of the regular price range, but there have to be some corners cut to make a car that is that powerful, yet still affordable.

This new one looks like cross between a Merc and a Camaro, unsure of how I feel about it yet.

I have the same opinion of this Corvette as any of the other recent Corvettes, though... ugly. Although it's definitely an improvement.

Well I have to say I was pretty excited to finally see the new corvette. I'm not a big fan of any domestic car however have always thought the C6 Corvette is a clean, dare I say classy design. I know the interior is kind of lackluster in quality and design but a nice car none the less.

I personally think this new design is horrible. Too busy, too many angular lines and scoops and the ass end looks terrible IMO. The interior looks good and I'm sure it will be a great car but I think it's ugly.

                  Re: 2014 Corvette Thread

I agree that it seems to look a little busy, with all the sharp lines and vents they have going on now.

They of course are a bargain car compared to what the Europeans offer in this level of power/sports car, but one of my biggest issues with Corvettes is the people who drive them, a large number of people think they are god's for having one of these cars, and a lot cannot handle them either. Just as the case of the Top Gear cool wall I think the car is seriously uncool because of the people that generally buy them.

                    Re: 2014 Corvette Thread

I'll reserve full judgement until I see one in person, but from the pics so far, I love some parts and hate some others. A few too many sharp lines here and there, but overall I think it looks mean as hell. Just needs a bit more of an agressive front bumper IMO as this one seems a bit too tame.

I'm like the majority here where I have never liked domestics, but always liked corvettes. I'm with Derek though, its hard to top the styling of the C6!

                        Re: 2014 Corvette Thread

If it truly has a luxury interior (I'll have to see for myself)... with the engine and handling being better than the last generation, then it's like getting a $200,000+ sports car for what, 70K? Very hard for me to argue with that.

The pics I posted at the top are for the final production car (unlike those blue ones?) so you can see they have made that "Mazda Smile" go away a bit and lessened how much it "copies" other cars like the Camaro in the back.

I think the styling of the production car is a step forward, the more angular lines help it look aggressive next to cars like the GT-R and distance it from some of its lacklustre domestic heritage and the muscle cars.

Really the only downside to me like Blair said is the stigma attached to vette drivers. But at the same time you could (and people OFTEN do) say that about BMW and Porsche and to a lesser extent exotic drivers have a reputation for being jerks, parking like assholes etc.

Obviously these photos are press releases so not necessarily the best to judge but some interior shots nonetheless.

This is exactly why i've always loved the corvette. You get an incredible performing car for an incredible price. Sure it may not be as classy and eligant as its competitors, but you have to make some sacrifices when you're paying 40% of the price of competitors.

the interior is definetly a step up from the c6, but the exterior is absolutly gross, cross between a Ferrari, GTR and Camaro.
Exterior of the C6 is nicer in my opinion, especially the ZR1.
