  • Ski/Board Set-Ups!

Hey everyone, its getting close to the ski/board season and i know there are lots of people on eurodrivers who ski and or board! Hopefully i will be out at sunshine on nov 9th for opening day. Post up your Ski/board Set ups (pics encouraged of course) and also what is your favorite mountain/Specific Run's to ride?

I dont have any pics of my board but its just a firefly riot. Not really that great of a board but its my first one and its all i got haha. Here is my ski set up. Ive probably only used them 5 times, but so far i love them. 2011 Line blend's. Great for all over the mountain. My favourite mountain is Panorama because my cabin is up there and i always seem to get great condition and snow while im there.

I may hit up Nakiska with mis ninas on saturday. I've got a 4 day trip in Feb to Island Lake Lodge that's got me pretty stoked. Let's hope an early start means a good year.

I have myself a pair of Atomic Bentchetlers for the deep stuff and Line Elizabeths for park although I don't go into the park anymore as I hurt myself too much in it haha As well, a Saga Jacket and pants set like ASP has except Blue and yellow. Should definitely set up a eurodrivers ski day once a month.

Love to ride... hence the username haha

Waited what seemed like forever to put together my new equipment for last season. Been lucky enough to ride some top of the line setups in years past, but this one is the best by a country mile. So fast yet controlled and incredibly responsive, I'm finding I need to adjust my riding style to find the limits of what is capable with this gear. By far the most lightweight all-mountain combo I've found yet.

Louise is my 'home' resort, always manage to find some pow there... but Big White and Red Resort are pretty awesome too. Of course Powder King. And always have love for Fernie's bowls.

2012 ObSETHed 179's with the Jester Pro bindings for pretty well my one ski quiver since most of my riding is done mid-season. Boots are the 2012 Full Tilt Seth's with an extra 6-flex tongue for the days I don't bomb as hard.

Was planning on picking up the Rocker 122's w/guardian bindings this year but I picked up the Orage JP Shell and Arcteryx Sabre pant instead since my 686 coat wasn't cutting it last year.

I feel like there are more skiers on here than boarders. Not hating of course but I like that!

Heard on the radio this morning that all the hills are opening this weekend because of all the snow they got.

                  Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!

Really looking forward to the hills opening, Sunshine has a boatload of snow already. Hopefully it's a nice snow filled year out there.

My go to board is the Burton Nice Guy, with Cartel ESTs on it. It's a shorter board but wider than average. I love how easy it is to whip around. My boots are some entry level Thirty Two's. They've held up pretty good a few seasons now, but I may start looking for a new pair at the end of the season.

Here it is with my older board (Step Child Chi-Borg, Burton Mission Bindings), and my girlfriend's new Burton Social.

I really cant remember what the brands/models are.

My proper setup is a Lib Tech Skate Banana, K2 Indy bindings, and some form of newish Burton Boots. Got a beater board or some sort with Burton bindings for those early days when the snow isnt that great yet. Cant wait for this season to kick off!

                        Re: Ski/Board Set-Ups!

Sweet, a shred thread & my 20th season.

I can't recall the GNU model off hand, been riding Mervins for quite a few seasons now.

Ben totally agree on Sunshine's park being a bit boring, but at least it was predictable. I've seen a dozen T.P strategies from RCR then Louise in my time. Glad that they're doing it properly again.

This will be my 3rd straight season without a pass, so I can be a genuine pow slut, and chase the dumps wherever.

Anyone got trips planned? I haven't been to Baker for a couple years, hopefully I'll be heading back this winter.

Which hills? I know of Nakiska. I just checked biglines/skilouise/skibanff and they don't have any updates.

Also, anyone hear the huge industry news yesterday? Jake Burton announced they're shuttering the Burton "Program" brands. (Forum/Special Blend/Foursquare).
Disappointing, as those brands had teams that really pushed it over the years, but ever since Burton acquired them from 4* and then started to marginalize them to the big box shops, you knew their days were numbered. (concerns over cannibalizing sales etc; )
Good news, is my friends involved will come out relatively unscathed.

While I agree that Burton did sell them to the box-shops, they also kept those brands alive for 8 years longer than the industry initially allowed. It is always sad to see a major influence in the sport go down like this, but at the same time I cannot hold Burton accountable. They are a business, and they have margins to maintain. The Program brands werent producing, plain and simple. If the snowboard community wants to see these brands survive, then they should step up and start buying the product.

Now all we can do it hope that someone out there steps up and buys out what is left, to keep them alive. wouldnt get your hopes up, though.
