now that the Jetta is sold i really need to get this car thing sorted and new car ideas keep popping in my head by the day! i figure there are fans of both cars on here so lets get some opinions, audi s4 (b6/b7) or 335xi both AWD both considered in the same class 335 is probably easier to squeeze some power out of (tune gets it to nearly 400 tq and something like 375 HP) but that godly v8, you cant beat the sound so which one would you choose and why?

Re: s4 vs 335
I had the same dilemma a month ago. I was in the market for a E92 M Sport or B8 S4. This is how I saw it.
335 Pro's
- Very easy to make fast
- Tons of aftermarket options
- Sporty look
Con
- Very common
- Interior is not simple and bland
S4 Pro's
- Quattro
- Interior is slick
- Not as common
Con's
- Styling is luxurious, but a little bland (sides are flat, no fender bulge)
I ended up with the B8 S4.Tint sucks

Re: s4 vs 335
My vote (obviously) is for V8 Powah! As per above S4s are not as easy to milk as the 335 but the 335 might as well be nitrogen molecules they are so common. The S4s have a lot of charisma and are getting pretty easy to make quick. Even B8 S4s are pretty ubiquitous, go to any dealer these days and they have 1 A4 and 19 S4s. PS Quattro. PPS V8 muscle car.John

Re: s4 vs 335
After driving my brothers JB3 135, I would have a hard time passing a 135/335 up.... His car is right on par with B5 Stage 3 power with a chip, exhaust and intake. That kind of power can make you quickly forget about the sound of a V8 or uniqueness on the road.
That being said I love me some B7 S4 Avant.
Within a year, I will probably make the jump to one of the two..

Re: s4 vs 335
Obviously it goes to what the OP want out of a car. For me it's not just about absolute speed (or I'd be driving a different car) but the overall package. Don't get me wrong I loves my fast but my S4 is already fast enough now to be a blast and potentially get me into a metric arse-tonne of trouble. Beyond that it’s a 4-season V8 muscle car sleeper and has all the other visceral benefits that go with the genre.
PS with a JHM tune, gutted cats and a decent 2.5” exhaust you should be getting over 375 BHP out of a 4.2 S4 for not much more than $1400.00 (doing cats yourself).John

Re: s4 vs 335
haha im glad i started this!! now one question that has come to mind, what's the difference between Quattro and Xdrive i've seen a bunch of tests where Xdrive has out performed quattro to the point of embarrassment, i have always thought Quattro was the best of the best but it doesnt seem that way. i think this will be a difficult decision to make both are great cars im just going to have to drive them and see.
