  • US-Canada rant

went to Montana this weekend (we go about 3x/year for some camping and shopping)

anyways everytime I go I always get so annoyed with back home

12bottle case of miller chill $9-10.. back home 24-26!!!
most 6pack bottles of beer were 5-7.50!!! 12-15 at home

gas! premium was 3.99/gal.. did the math.. that equals 95c/litre!!!!! for premium!!

what the hell! they must barely any taxes on their gas and no sin tax at all..

best part highways are 70-75mph.. so 112km-120! on little roads haha.. so I was doing about 130-140.. the s4 had a good time down there too (first time I took it down that far and no issues haha)

average gas on the computer was 8.7l/100km so like 32mpg or close.. not too shabby at all that was 130 most of the time and a few nice passing zones up to say 170ish

fun weekend anyways just annoyed with our lame prices..

Exactly. We are paying for healthcare and others through our taxes...

If we scrap health care, we should be able to remove sin taxes.

We just have to wait 5 hours to see a doctor that's all. And we pay tons for our healthcare, that's the majority reason everything is so expensive

Ummmmmm, try your math skilllllz again....

                    $3.99 / 3.54 USGal/l = $1.13 US per liter giving around $1.09 CAN dollars at today's exchange rate.

Fuel tax is based on road cost... I'm sure you guys can relate population density to per capita road cost and determine why there might be a difference.......

1 US Gallon = 3.785 Liters. Either way, the grass is always greener on the other side, but everything has its advantages and disadvantages!

                          1 imperial foot = 12 inches = 0.3048m
                          1 US foot (for surveying purposes) = 1200/3937m = 0.304800609601m

just can't conform with anything - lets make a special foot that is 0.000000609601 different!

You should see some of the price differences here and the scary part to think is the VAT (tax like GST) is 20% and built on most things already.

                            Hunger Games 2 DVD Set - Amazon.ca - $22.99 no tax
Hunger Games 2 DVD Set - Amazon.co.uk - £10.00 including tax - £8.33 no tax, converted to Canadian that is $13.19

This results in the Canadian price being 74% higher than the UK price, that is nuts! And it is not just Amazon that you can get this price I can even get movies for the same price as Amazon at my local grocery store.
