u mad bro? its really not that big of a deal to move to a different cable. the old cables seemed kind of big and out dated anyways. smart move by apple in my opinion. sure people have to buy this adapter, but it allows apple to make the phone better by not having this massive connecter space in the way of where they could have better parts.

Pfft! Who the hell still uses docking stations? I haven't used cables since iOS 5 came out....... Everything I do to connect phone is wifi/bluetooth. The only thing I use the 30-pin for is outputting movies to my TV in the trailer, but I will probably just get an appleTV and then stream it through wifi. Cables are so 1990's haha

And it is a big deal to change the connector when Apple sold the right to the old plug to a ton of companies. Most brand new cars use this connector... Or how about major gym equipment manufacturers? Or portable sound docks? Whether or not it creates room in the phone, it also creates a lot of headaches. Wait until people fun out that they can't hook up their new $600 phone to their $80k Mercedes or BMW.

Right - it was over their previous technology... the point was just that even another top tier company like Samsung couldn't help themselves.

If you look at Apple's other products you'll notice they're not overly concerned about numbers... yes they were slow to get on the 4g network... must be nice to be able to do things at your own pace in such a frenzied industry.

I love the new adapter... & BTW... an adapter to adapt the old adapter/devices to the new adapter/connection is en' route

It isn't official plus it is Samsung adding the iPhone 5 to the list of infringement products not Apple claiming Samsung stole ideas from the 5.

My original post didnt say a thing about the old Apple/Samsung patent lawsuit.. this is a new one regarding HTC and Samsung vs. Apple regarding LTE. HTC has already filed, and Samsung is in the middle of doing so. There are tons of articles about it if you want to read up.

The new lightning connector charge super fast. I was at 1% and charged up to 91% in 20min. That would have been 1.5hrs on the 4.

                Lightning - HDMI
                Lightning - VGA
                Lightning - RCA
Will all be available by November.

                Lightning - micro USB
                Lightning - 30pin
                Will be available in October.

It will cost you $30 to use any of your old 30pin accessories and/or hook up to your tv via cable. I think that's a good trade off for a much better phone. Don't forget you also need an adaptor to tv out 95% of the android and rim devices, so they are all in the same boat.

                    Re: iPhone 5 released

That's a pretty impressive charge time for sure! My dad ordered one, so I'll have to play with it a bit when he gets it. At the moment I'm leaning towards the GS3 for my next phone though... I just find Apple is too overpriced for what you get. I'm careful with my iPhone 4 and I've never broken the screen or anything, but I'm on my 5th one in 2 years because of hardware failures...

On another note, I saw this on TV last night... I though it was quite amusing actually haha

Haha, funny video. That looks like a pretty sweet phone too. The more these companies duke it out the better products we get... I'm ok with that

With that short a charge time i wonder what the trade off will be in terms of battery life? AKA the faster you charge a battery, the shorter the total lifespan usually. Usually. Maybe they have some sort of brand new battery technology

^^^This. I just picked up a GS3 today and so far I love it, but thats to be expected coming from a blackberry. In either case, these phones offer way more than the average individual is gonna use, so you need to look past the hype and focus on what features will make YOU happy in the long run.

I've had iPhones since the original came out, whenever that was, 5-6 years ago now? Anyways I'm on my 6th phone, average of about one a year, but went through 3 in one year for the 3G, all hardware failure. I still have a 3GS which has been strong for 2 now. My wife has a GS3, I really have no clue what I'll get next still.

the way I look at it is unless google will credit you for all those app purchases to switch platforms i'm not switching from apple anytime soon.. between my iphone, ipad and wife iphone, ipad we have hundreds of dollars in paid apps, magazines, etc which i'm not throwing away.
