Never been a huge apple fan, and never understood the fuss over the iphone. I guess they caught up a little but for now I would not trade my s3 for it.
Been driving VAG for longer then allot of the members have been alive
Thinking about upgrading from my 3GS too. But wife just got a Samsung, love android, hate the thin tall designs. I'm afraid I'd break it in my pocket at work or something. We'll see, I'll wait to play with it, and see what kind of jailbreaking stuff they do.
Pretty underwhelming if you ask me. Honestly, if was in the market for a new phone right now I wouldn't look any further than a galaxy S3. HTC isn't good a staying current (I believe the HTC still can't support Ice cream sandwich).
I didn't watch the press release but looks to me like faster processor, bigger screen (still quite a bit smaller than S3), and I don't see what iOS6 gets you, passbook? whatever that is. I'm not really that surprised though, with a lot of companies ditching BB's for iPhones anything too crazy might have jeopardized that.
I have a 4S so I'll probably be hanging on to it for quite a while.
Derek, one recommendation is if you use your camera or video a lot I would consider getting more than 16gb. 16gb was fine on my 3gs but when I went to the 4s I keep chewing through my memory between all my music and pictures. wish I would have gone bigger.
I'll have to compare phones in 5 months or so when my contract is up. Unless something else come out between now and then, it'll be between the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III. There are a few cool features in iOS6 though. I've had the beta since June, but it didn't have all of the features working.
i got rid of my berry in the spring for the 4S and haven't looked back. i love the 4s and this 5 looks pretty good as well. i will stick with the 4s, i only do so much with my phone anyways

Yeah, I just read all the first reviews, sounds like its not really worth it. For what it's worth now, people in my situation, own a 3GS still. Just get a 4 or 4s when they're free next month.
I read something about the new pricing in the states earlier, so it'll probably be similar here. I believe the 8GB 4 would be free, the 16GB 4S will be $99, the 16GB 5 will be $199, $100 more for the 32GB, and $200 more for the 64GB

The iphone 5 is not meant to be some sort of ground breaking phone. It is meant to be better than it's previous model and to compete with the likes of the new phones such as the Galaxy S3. Take the time to watch the keynote on the apple web page and you will see that it has made some pretty cool improvements.
Has it improved enough to make 4S owners jump ship, no, but Apple doesn't care because they already have your buisness.
So the "almost" final release of iOS6 is out for developers now. I'll update my phone tomorrow and see for sure, but it should have access to all of the new features now. I'll report back later!

I bought the original iPhone when it came out. I had 4 of them within a year (replaced at no charge due to the warranty) because they kept having hardware failures. At the end of my one year warranty I bought an android because their failure rate was lower, gave the iPhone to my brother, it lasted another year before it's death.
Not really motivated to go back to an iPhone. I'm much more interested in the Windows 8 phones and The Samsung Galaxy S3.
To use a car analogy, six years ago the iPhone was like a sexy new flagship model from BMW or Porsche. Today it's a Toyota Camry. Safe, reliable, boring. The car your mom drives. The car that's so popular that its maker doesn't dare mess with the formula.
