Has anybody ever heard of these?

Looks like a pretty good idea in a way.

    Re: Easier Oil Changes?

Never heard of it nor would I ever spend 10 cents paying for it. Its not the drain plug part of the oil change that gets messy, its usually the filter. When they come up with a cleaner way to get the filter off, i'll pay attention then.

I can also see some road grime and dirt getting in the valve that you need to turn that may not go well for it. Or if you have a vehicle with the drain plug facing down hitting this thing on speed bumps or potholes in this city.

Coincidentally the topic came up on Beyond this week.
          http://forums.beyond.ca/st/358563/an...-drain-valves/

Mixed reviews in that thread with a couple of dubbers giving it an A+!

They don't fit the hybrid pans but I bought one anyway & plan to modify it to fit. If it works it should be much cleaner/easier to change oil.

sold one to my dad for his dodge diesel, he loves it, his neighbour ordered one a week later as well. its a good idea if the drain plug is up out of weather and no chance of **** hitting it.

I have seen those for years on the TDI club. I am sure there are some good threads over there about them.

I sell some ones we use on the semis all the time. Used them on some cars and stuff, but IMHO its not worth the cash.

its cause you own a VR6 engine....2.8's, 3.2's....changing the filters in those things is such a friggin pain.
s4 is pretty clean and super easy. drain, twist off the canister, dump the whole canister filter into the used oil pan and screw on a new one. none of this crap about unscrewing a filter housing, having it piss oil from around the threads as you undo it and then having the whole damn thing just puke out oil. Not to mention trying to figure out if the damn o-ring came off or is still on the filter housing but rolled over. what a dumb design.

Actually Andrew I was making reference to Tracy's 2.0 and my old 1.8 cl. The 3.2 VR6 is the cleanest of all oil changes i've ever done on a car. The filter housing has its own drain plug for the oil in the housing, so once I let that drain, its all very simple. I wish every car had the same design as my .:R32 does!!!

I've found the cleanest way to change my oil is to take it to Volkswagen in town. Absolutely no mess at all!

I have Fumotos on all my cars. They work great. Never leak and drain quickly.

really? i always hated that damn canister drain even with the drain on the bottom of it i found it would leave a mess.
