  • Re: plasti dipping colors

I didn't know they made clear plasti dip. I might have to look into spraying the front end of my car for winter if it won't give my front end a matte finish.

Clear will give you a matte finish on your original paint. You could try spraying clear then gloss, but I can still almost guarantee it will look off.

bad idea scott haha, it will look terrible. 3m'ing it is totally worth it. plus ur going to need to spray alot of plasti dip on or else it wont protect it, and it will also take forever to take it off.

3M would work better I think.

Yeah I already have 3M on the front third or so of my hood, but is really like to have the whole thing done. I'd need to get the paint touched up in a couple places first though, so it would be nice to have a temporary solution for this winter, but I don't think it's gonna happen

I was going to do the car this weekend but no go now..

I was going to do blue/black mix but with no black I didn't bother..

I went there a week and a half ago and the guy told me 3-4 weeks. Went over to Auto Value off Macleod and they had about 10-12 cans of black on the shelf. I picked up 4, I believe the price was $12/can. Probably more expensive than IPP but I didn't feel like waiting a month. Give them a call to see if they have any left.

why do you guys care if it matches if you're using it for paint protection in the winter? clean it off in the spring, if it's that easy to work with.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3

i was referring to this, since he only wants a temporary solution for winter. since it's a matte finish, it might look like a hood bra. and if it's temporary, it's a solution that might makes sense.

I'd consider it if I weren't so OCD haha. If I could get something with a finish that's really similar to the paint, then I'd be all over it

This is actually a good point. Matte hoods may be the new rusted out hoods.......only you can make it pretty again come spring
