Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
My brother brews for brewsters and I usually love their stuff. Their IPA is the best beer I've had from Western Canada. It's a shame Big Rock went too easy drinking and mainstream because I used to love it, although a pint of traditional ale from the tap is still good stuff.
Ale's are my favourite, especially IPA's, the hoppier the better.'14 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (On Order)

Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
coors light, miller chill are my favorites for simply wanting a drink (for ball games and the odd one at home.. i'm not a huge drinker)
these ones are much better with food
i really like the wheat ones now.. brewsters has some great ones (farmers tan)
local velvet fog is quite good too http://www.wildrosebrewery.com/beer/velvet-fog.html
i had one i loved the other day downtown by a company in BC The Tin Whistle.. peaches and cream ale.. my god it was good http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/tin-whi...am-ale/128156/
i found some great wheat beers in the US this summer by shock top.. http://www.shocktopbeer.com/s/index....belgian-white/Last edited by R_Ethug; 08-01-2012, 08:19 AM.

Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
I used to work for a company in Calgary called BBS Systems. It's the largest company in north America that installs and maintains draught and liquor systems in bars and food establishments. What does this mean? I've tried so many different beers In my short drinking age lifetime it's pretty ridiculous. I will try and remember some of my favourites you can get in Calgary and a few maybe you can't.
First of all if you haven't heard of it yet, head down to Craft. BBS did the install there and it's INSANE. I think there's 110 different beers on tap. http://www.craftbeermarket.ca/
Wild rose brewery obviously local, lots of they're stuff is pretty good, as it's summer now check out they're velvet fog, good wheat beer.
Ally Kat in Edmonton, stellar beer. Lots have tried aprikat, but they're piece is they're full moon. It's on the hoppy side but damn is it good. I get a serious craving for it once in a while and it doesn't go away until I get some. btimbit would love this one.
Obviously there's the mainstream premiums which are all pretty good, the Guinness group, Guinness, Kilkenny, Harp, Smithwhicks. Erdinger, both white and dark are good.
If you like strong beer there is a brewery in Quebec called Unibroue. They make strong belgian style beers that are pretty good. Belgian style is cloudy and strong, but also a once in a while craving.
Granville island brewery in Vancouver has alright products, I really enjoy they're ales. The english bay pale ale is super tasty, and in the winter time they have a specialty beer called Lions Winter Ale, dark ale with vanilla notes. **** is it good.
There's a Liquor store by the southport moxies where we have the meets. Willow park liquor. It's the only place I've found it but it's called Delirium Tremens. There's a dark and a white beer. It actually is true Belgian style beer and it's is so un believably good. Everyone who reads this thread needs to go there and buy some. Single bottles only. I prefer the dark one.
Uuuummmmm, Phillips brewery in Victoria, can't find their beer here I don't think but they're all good. Probably one of my favorite Canadian breweries. If you can find it they're blue buck is good, chocolate porter is awesome, and they have a large array of hoppy beers, IPA's and the likes that are all awesome too.
Tree brewing in Kelowna is alright too. Thirsty Beaver is pretty tasty, they're Hop Head is really good IPA too.
If you make it to the states and want to try and good micro brew/ mainstream beer get some Sierra Nevada. WIcked good stuff too.
Man there's so many, I could keep going. If you have questions about anything feel free to ask too. I have a pretty good amount of knowledge on the subject. Biggest thing to remember when trying beer, find a style you are particular about. Run with it, don't be shy, if you see something interesting, buy it. If there's 5 left over because you don't like it. Someone will drink it.
Cheers!Last edited by CGDoig; 08-01-2012, 10:14 AM.

Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
Bought some kegerator supplies from BBS. Pretty awesome place.
Have Steigl Grapefruit Radler on tap right now, definately delicious.
I quite like anything Wild Rose Brewery makes, especially the Wraspberry ale.
Grasshopper, Guiness, Kilkenny, Coors (not light!), Grolsch, Ricards Red, Hoegaarden, Velvet fog, and Pacifico are all up there on my list too. Theres tons more but can't think of any off the top of my head.
Delerium Tremens is delicious! It was all over Belgium when I was there.Last edited by onceover; 08-01-2012, 11:05 AM.

Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
Unrelated to you home brewers, but I love Old Milwaukee. Up until Stampede you could usually get a 15er for under $20. ($20.xx today)
Back in the day you used to get a trucker hat with the 15er. You could buy a sweet hat, and get 15 free beer. (Back before white frame sunglasses and von dutch)Cam

Re: The "Official" Beer thread.
Haha I thought so too. But honestly, beer has so many varieties, that if you're not a picky person the list goes on for days. Some of my favorites are Bud light lime, coors light iced tea, corona, sleemans honey brown, richards white, heineken, carlsberg, Okocim, Zywiec, Bitberger, warsteiner, the raspberry and blueberry beers at Brewsters, and probably many others i've tried over the years that i've really enjoyedPatryk
