Which oil do you use and how do you like it?

Thinking of switching oil for the .:R32 and just wondering what everyone around here uses for their cars. Currently i'm using Redline Synthetic 5w40 but its pretty damn expensive. I need oil that is VW502.00 approved and i'm considering the following option:

Motul 5w40
Amsoil 5w40 European Formula
Lubro-moly 5w40
Mobil 1 0w40

Anyone using anything different that they really like? Let me know what you guys think.

I use Motul 8100 X-Clean 5w40 and it's been great, nothing bad to say about it.

Rotella T6 - Canadian Tire

or

Fuchs - Jerbel Autowerks

Edit: I like both of these options as the Fuchs is German synthetic ( not like N.A. "synthetic" ) and the Rotella is nearly as good and a bargain. I used Castrol & Lubro Moly before these... nothing blew up

I use to use the amsoil European Formula but I can't find anywhere in the city that is less than $13/L so last time Natty got me some of the Lubro-Moly 5w-40 and it seems to be just as good. Like liquid gold!

Motul 505.01 is VW/Audi specific...... Best of the best

Motul, why because its good oil and I can get it cheap. I have connections from back in my mechanic days and can get it at a great price. I used to use the ESSO XD-3 0w-40 before they dropped it. Price used to be $7 a litre and it was great oil for our german engines.

Picked up some Castrol Full Synthetic at Costco for a good deal but its 5w30. Is that ok in the 1.8T? I see 5w40 across the board pretty much.

I've always been happy with Mobil 1. Of the oils listed... I can't validate spending another $3, $4 or whatever dollars per quart. To me, Mobil 1 has a solid reputation and hasn't steered me wrong. Are the others truly "better"... I'm not sure. Personally, I think marketing plays a bigger role with one's oil purchase than anything.

Hmmm... maybe I just like Mobil 1 because of the silver bottle then?
