2012 Calgary International Auto Show Thread: Who's Gone, What Did You See?

Thought I'd start a thread for anyone who wants to chat about the Auto Show. What was your favorite car? Least favorite? Disappointments? Surprises?

I loved the Aventador and the new Porsche 991 is growing on me (but not the sticker price). Genesis continues to be solid for the money.

Beetle was a huge disappointment as was the Veloster and WRX family - pretty much anything in that mid-price hatch segment really seems to suck.

Going tonight or tomorrow, looking forward to the new Genesis C, Toyobaru twins, Golf R, S4, and the exotics (Aventador/458/Mp4). Was the new Boxter there?

No new Boxster there and no Golf R either. Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ were there but you were not able to get into either which was disappointing. Aventador and Mclaren were hot, not 100% sold on the FF though. Do want an Abarth and an Evoque!

Yeah as Blair said don't go looking for the Golf R... Beetle is the car VW is pushing at the show.

For exotics the Ferrari booth was surprisingly bad and the Porsche booth was pretty bad too, basically they didn't seem to bring much just the single new 991 barely noticeable surrounded by a base model cayman and (old) boxster.

Also disappointed in the lack of Veloster Turbo, but was nice to sit in a ZR1!

I liked the Lexus and Mercedes booths best this year. R-line Passat was pretty slick IMO. Also the MP4 was sweet.

Went there Thursday right after class, was able to take a Fiat 500 for a spin. It was a fun little car!! Also I enjoyed seeing the volt, working for GM I have been waiting a while to see it.

I went with intentions of comparing these two models as well... I love the look of the GLK350 but I just can't get myself to like the interior. The phone buttons kill it for me on the GLK. The Q5 takes the win for me here in my opinion.

I much preferred the GLK, test drove both a few weeks ago. AMG options are awesome, it has a great look and I liked the function-over-form interior. Engine was pretty sweet too although too quiet.

Agree that the Mercedes booth was pretty well done at the show.

Worth going if you haven't gone in a year or two. But not much different from last year I'm sure.
