  • New car in the stable

We got fed up with my wife's car, so we traded up for a new Scion tC. Pretty much loaded, leather, upgraded stereo, etc, it was the demo car with only 250 km on it! Colour is Sizzling Crimson Mica, the pics don't do it justice.

    How is it?

Scion has started to interest me, as of late. Lots of neat concepts with them. They look sharp, to boot.

I've always like the Scion TC because of their looks. They have a nice body, nice bumpers and could look pretty amazing with just a drop and wheels. How are they engine/performance wise?

Re: New car in the stable

Price was about $31k out the door. Lots of options since it was the demo car: leather/heated seats, upgraded stereo, upgraded security system, spoiler, door sill plates, 3M film, can't think of what else. We extended the comprehensive warranty to 5 years/100k (~$1500), tire and key replacement plan ($500), whole car protection (paint, undercoat, fabric, etc.) (~$1200). The basic comprehensive warranty is only 3 years/60k, so kind of short compared to similar cars from other companies.

I really like it. The engine is a 2.5L 4 cylinder, from the Camry, decent power. 6 speed auto, with tiptronic (or whatever they call it). Rides quite nice, maybe a little softer than my A4.

We test drove the Hyundai Veloster, Kia ForteKoup, and Dodge Challenger. Dodge couldn't get in the V6/auto for the day we booked, so we tried a used SRT-8 and a V6 Charger. Man those are big cars. The Veloster was OK, but really needs the turbo that is coming out next year, kinda gutless as is (1.5L 4 cyl). The ForteKoup was quite similar to the tC, but just not quite as refined. Price was about the same too.

I kinda like these cars, the rear side window bit always reminds of a Charger though. I like the colour
