so i see some of you rock the blue 3m on front driving to car shows, does it work at preventing rock chips, or is it mostly for bugs? and is there something else possibly in black lol

Plastidip is more durable... peels off almost the same.

Vinyl would be any color you wanted, would protect, and peel off easy. If you don't care if you get a few bubbles, it would go on easy.

I used to rock painters tape for the drive down to Wuste. It definitely does not prevent rock chips, it does help with bugs although if it gets wet it's a major pain in the ass to get off. I bought some plasti dip last week to test it out before I do a big project with it and it seems like it might be a good option. It comes in matte black as well as clear, and takes about 3-4 hours to dry. It peels off relatively easy although I'd be worried about it lifting off paint from current rock chips. When you peel it off there is no residue or anything left behind. Why not just 3M the front of your car? Jeff on here did a wicked job on mine and i have never had to tape my front end since.

Comes in clear gloss/matte and any color that you want.

I wanted to wax the car before getting 3M so the first winter we rocked electrical tape. It was perfect after though received funny looks. IIRC was only 3 rolls.
