  • DIY heated windshield washer nozzle repair for vw mkiv's

So you broke your windshield washer nozzles and now you can't see **** when you're driving.... You go to the dealership (in my case Natty, thanks man!) to look for a new one and you get non heated one only to realize yours was actually heated fuuuuuu..... You ask about the heated one.. It costs $40. FUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!! Anyways read below..

    What you're going to need.

    1. non heated windshield washer nozzle around $8.
    2. flathead screw driver
    3. dremel rotary tool

First pry out the actual spray nozzle from the new housing using a flathead screw driver.

It pops off fairly easy. Done!

With your dremel tool use the cutting attachment and make a slot through the middle of the new housing like so. This lets you reuse the old spray nozzle with the heated wires.

So now it looks like this.

Pop off the actual nozzle (with the wires attached to it) from your original windshield washer nozzle Just like you did in step 1 (see step 1). I just broke off the old already broken housing so I can get the nozzle and the wire free.

Now you end up with this

Slide the wires through the notch you just made et voila. You have a brand new working windshield washer nozzle.

Install and buy some beers with the money you just saved!

Can't you just take the connector off (or whatever) and run the wires through it?
      Either way good to know.

I'm not sure what you mean but I couldn't take the wires off from the old connector and transfer it over to the new one. I also couldn't slide the part with the wire through the new housing without breaking the housing. I know this because I broke the housing the first time...

I meant if you removed the wires with the heater nozzle from the car. Not sure how far back the wires go though. Your way is faster but they had to have gone together somehow before without cutting that piece.

ahhh yeah i see your point. the non heated nozzles do have a hollow spot for the wires.

Thanks for the write up, I just did this over the weekend but pulled the connector (found behind the oval shaped plastic piece under the hood) and undid the pins in the connector with a bobby pin, threaded the wires through the housing and popped the pins back in. Easiest 30 bucks I've ever saved.
