I know allot of people go down to Sweetgrass to pick up parts so I was wondering if as a group we want to get together together and help each other out by picking up stuff for others. So if you are going down please post when you are going and if you have room for items.
If you are not familiar with Sweetgrass it is the first town across the border in the US and it has a few companies that will receive and hold a product for over a month for a small fee, and as Canadians We get screwed on prices, shipping and duty for allot of things as well as sellers that will not even ship to Canada.

I'm in, I went last year around this time. I think the big thing would have to be the duty one would ave to pay.

you know the value of the goods you order so GST can be calculated and so can duty if it is a product duty has to be paid on. Throw in a little for gas and everyone goes home happy

The biggest problem IMO is that there is only so much you can put in 1 car. E.g. if someone wants wheels or tires or something big, they have to go themselves anyway.

                          Re: Sweetgrass

I'm interested in picking up a set of wheels from tirerack in Sweetgrass. Can someone give me a quick run down on how this works? I'd save $250 having them shipped to Sweetgrass rather than to my Calgary or Brooks address. Just trying to see if it's worth the effort. The border is only about an hour and a half to two from Brooks. Thanks!

That's basically what I'm trying to decide. What are the costs associated with picking them up there (other than the obvious things that you noted)? Are there fees included? Gas from Brooks and back is only ~$50 and I don't mind spending a Sunday driving in the convertible down there so the 4 hour round trip isn't a big deal at all. As long as it's only gas and time, I'm happy.
