    Re: Sweetgrass

Only fee will be duty/taxes on the wheels and the fees that the storage place charges. I use Deringer and they are by far the cheapest. I think last time I was there it was $0.50 per box per day to have your packages sit there.

Duty. Taxes? If they are made in the US. No fees needed.

        Re: Sweetgrass

According to Tirerack, all duties and fees are covered in the price: http://www.tirerack.com/about/canadian-faqs.jsp

Does this mean that I can basically just pick them up there with no other costs?

I just realized that Sweet Grass was way further south than I had thought. I thought it was closer to the border crossing but apparently it's like 6-7 hours away from Brooks. Is Sweet Grass the only place that it can be shipped?

            Re: Sweetgrass

Sweet Grass is right at the border. Probably a 2 hour drive from Brooks.

You need to pay the company that is holding the package. It's not much. I'd estimate about $20 for all 4 wheels if you don't hold them there for long.

If you can prove at the border that the product was made in the US, you won't have to pay duty. You will need to pay GST.

I figured, I was sure it was the little town opposite of Coutts. For some reason, each time I looked at the route on Google maps it came up as a 7-8 hour trip to central Montana. I don't believe the wheels are made in the US but according to Tirerack's website, the duty fees are included in the price. Would I pay duty a second time?

                Re: Sweetgrass

If you ship them within the US, duty would not be included, so you would have to pay the duty at the border.

If tirerack actually does include all the fees in the price I'd just pay the 250 to get it shipped to your door. But call them and ask about brokerage and duty just to make sure.

The fees you pay when the wheels get shipped to you isn't duty. It's ups garbage brokerage fee. Screw ups.

I shipped to Eureka (google Eureka shipping outlet) which is about the same distance to Sweetgrass and a much more interesting drive! Then I go to Whitefish (skiing) and hit Kalispel for shopping.

If you order from tirerack and shipped to Canada, the price inculdes duties and taxes. If you ship to a USA address, shipping is much less and does not include duties/ taxes which you would pay at border unless you stay in US for 72 hours. Think its $750/person tax exempt.

there are 2-3 companies in sweetgrass/coutts border town that hold things. Agree that there isn't much to see from lethbridge to the border and back. And you can't speed much until you get to montana....If you go with truck, let me know, I want some wheels and bumpers....

Hmm, doesn't really seem worth it anymore to pay the duties and taxes.

Yup. The $250 speeding ticket I got last time almost wiped out my savings.

saving 250 beans is totally worth it!! Even if you are coming from Red Deer!!! LOL Realistically your time is only what YOU value it to be. I personally like getting out and heading to the USA and grabbing parts and going for a rip on the highway. Some people have "no time" for anything else and like the convenience of having things just show up to their door, all while paying a huge premium to have it that way.

To each their own i suppose!!
