  • optima battery charing?? or is it dead?

2 year old optima r34 red top

died over the winter (well due to my alternator dying and sucking the battery super low) then it sat (unplugged the ground)

had to boost my car last week and drove it to the meet.. was fine over 2 hours and drove home

this weekend it wouldn't start.. voltage on car was about 7-8 volts

boosted it and drove it around and next day same deal

last night boosted it and drove around 35 mins..

    this morning no go

i think its dead? or do i need to trickle charge it?

parked in heated garage when dead? if outside, it would have likely frozen if completely dead. Not much recovering after that...

Any decent battery charger will have a trickle charger. Likely dead in my opinion, most batteries don't like to be run dry and left dead. Go to crappy tire and buy a cheap battery charger and go from there.

CTEK trickle it if you really want to try and save that battery. I think I have one with my Nissan in storage if you want to borrow it for the weekend Ryan? Let me know. Or I have them for sale, if you are parking the car a bunch it is worth while to have one in the car to keep your battery in good shape (this one or the next one)

meh i'll probably just buy a new battery then

its strange as from the last meet i charged it by driving and drove it last friday to work and it had 12V on startup key turn no problem.. but sitting 3 days molested it

Canadian Tire has them on sale this week - 40% off. $49.99. The CTEK is phenomenal. They are re-branded to sell as chargers for Porsche etc. It will revive a dead battery. http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en

I also keep 2 styles of CTEK's in stock (safe for GEL) if it is more convenient for anyone Porsche, Aston, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini, all use CTEK rebranded chargers.

these batteries need to be trickle charged for a long time once drained. if you decide to get a new battery, i would likely buy the optima from you for my work light.
