  • By-laws?

Ghetto DIY question - are people allowed to work on a car in a driveway in Calgary?

      Driveway yes, street no.

Driveway is your property, street is the cities.

Just don't "store" car parts in sight from the outside of your property, and be aware of fluids so they are not entering the storm drain.

Yup as stated above. Plus in apartments you are not allowed to in the parking lots or in underground parkades (so I have found out).

You can't even wash your car with just water and no soap. Can't was a clump of dirt off your driveway or an oil stain that came off your car. If the "rain" does it fine, you do it in any way a really really big fine(upwards of $10k). I have spoken personally to the head of waste water here in Calgary and got told this.

Now truthfully you won't get caught unless by-law or a neighbor complains.

thats all condo specific and depends on their bylaws. but most dont allow work to be done in stalls.
doesn't mean i cant do an oil change at 2am on a tuesday night.
