PSA - Save your oil pan (Pot Hole Warnings)

Idea came from ryukin2000's earlier post and suggested by MechEngg. Create a thread where we can give a heads up to all of us with lowered cars as to where we have to watch for raised pavement that will wreak havoc with our oil pans.

Here is number one. Southbound on 3rd St. SE right before the lights on 5th Ave. Lane closest to the curb will make you wince. Circled in red.

Elbow Drive Sw heading north between Glenmore Trail and Sifton Blvd Sw. There was construction for the past whole summer there and when they repaved, it was the worst job I've ever seen. Large protruding manholes, lanes are uneven and very high raises and drops over Glenmore,58th Ave and 50th Ave. I drive this everyday and its horrible!! I wouldn't advise any low cars to go this way.

Going NORTH on Macleod just before the intersection of 17th Ave SE, STAY OUT OF THE LEFT LANE.


Going EAST on 12th Ave just before the safeway on 8th Street there is a chunk of concrete on the road from the construction a few years ago, sticks out 4". Concrete not shown in picture because it happened after google earth came around, location circled

Wow that pic of 12th ave and 8th street is old. On the left hand side of the pic, there is not a 10 story building for the Calgary Board of Education. I will try and investigate this cement hazard without being struck by a car. haha

Yeah i drive past both of these on my way to my gf's house 3-4 times a week, it is scary still even in a non-lowered car

That whole section of 12th Ave from 8th to 5th is pretty bumpy, I swear if I am going fast enough the Fiat seems like it might get some air!

I've driven over that spot tons of times and never noticed anything in my car but then again I'm not really low. I could be wrong but I dont think that spot is an issue anymore.

Just drove over it last night so it is still there, look for it tonight on your way home It is in the right-middle lane

16ave and 43 st NW heading westbound in right lane. Theres a man hole that is more like a well now. watch yo rims.

There's one a little hard to see right on centre street going north just before the lights at 3rd Avenue SW. AVOID the right lane.

i cant think of any one place in my head, i just know where they are when i approach them. gotta stay alert when driving a low car, it almost becomes a reflex. sometimes you cant get out of the lane youre in. just gotta ride the tops of the ruts and hope you don't hit. steel pan helps a ton too

4th ave flyover heading into downtown, right as you come tot he end of the flyover there is the connector from the bridge ot the road. right lane is getting worse every time.


mcleod and 7th ave heading nrth bound. there is a steel plate on the ground right now covering a hole. it'll fck things up good if you hit it with any kind of speed
