15" Macbook Pro refurb?

So I'm try to get a friend a 15" Macbook Pro for Christmas, and saw a deal off Apple for a refurb model. I'm not a mac user, but was wondering if there are any drawbacks to this? Or does anyone know of a good place to get a Macbook pro for a decent price?

I think they have a 1 year warranty. My friend bought one about 3 years back and hasnt had an issue yet

They have the same warranty as other Macbook Pro's. I've had one and had no issues at all.

I have purchased my last 3 laptops (11" macbook air, 13" macbook pro, 13" black macbook),mac mini and apple cinema display all from the Refurbished section. I have never had an issue and all have come looking brand new. I believe their refurbished requirements are pretty stringent so you should get a machine that is practically new but in a brown box instead of the normal packaging. It's the only way I buy Apple products now and it's the only discount on an Apple product you'll get if you're not a student.

colin.. the refers are fully warrantied and you can add the extra applecare warranty too

stories about refurbs are not just busto units. people who buy one and return it 1 day later are refurbs too... so no worries man.. other than that it comes in a brown box not a fancy white one

I have a refurb time capsule, came, looked brand new. Do it comes with full warranty.
