Can someone recommend a jeweller?

A family member is looking for a jeweller. Just wondering if someone can recommend a jeweller in town (Calgary)

The jeweller will need to:

Have a very good insurance policy (just in case)
Experience with high value and rare items
Very reliable and trustworthy
Ability to work with platinum
Be able to maintain items and some fixes, and also possibly be able to make a new set

I use Dana Dow in South Centre. Did some nice custom work for me.

^^^ I can attest to them as well. Very knowledgable. Friendly and helpful. I went there dressed in full teenage wear one day complete with backwards hat and they treated me like a was a 45 year old business man.

J. Vair Anderson downtown. http://jvairanderson.com. They have been around for over 80 years. Plus some of the ladies there are hot!

Sean Ferguson of Ferguson Jewelry.

He has a shop by Chinook mall and he specializes in custom high end work.

Had him make a platinum engagement ring custom, and it turned out beautiful. He can do anything with platinum, and routinely works with high value items. Also extremely easy guy to work with even if it takes weeks or months, he is very friendly, go meet him.

I will second J. Vair. they have been family friends since i was in pre-school. One of the most reputable jewellers in the city.

However, and i know some folks won't like this, but i wouldnt go in there "looking like a teenager". They generally cater to a slightly more affluent crowd (which is why they are located where they are)

My cousins husband owns Wong Keng Jewlery in willow park, his name is Paul Wong Ken. They have very unique and amazing items, plus hes a big euro guy and loves his old porsches!

John Bingam at Liberty Goldworks downtown. He does all the custom work for half the jewelers in town that take credit for his stuff. He made my wedding bands, engagement ring, as well as a ton of other custom stuff for a bunch of people I work with. When I was in there to pick up my wife's engagement ring he was working on a ring for one of the Flame's wives (he wouldn't say who). I swear, the diamond was the size of a grape, not sure what that translates into carats.
