I've noticed that diesel prices are higher than gasoline right now. I understand there's some sort of problem with a refinery in Edmonton but I'm wondering why it's still so high and how long it's going to last...

Apparently theres a big diesel shortage, once supply comes back up the price will go back, or it might just stay there.
Either way, still close to premium gas price with better fuel economy. -

Was not fun filling up this week. Filled up my moms MK5 for ~$72. Bro filled up the black Jetta for ~$70. My tank was $64.

Problem with diesel right now is that its a heavy trucking season due to Christmas, and home heating oil is pretty much diesel. Jet fuel is pretty close to diesel, so lots of demand, and supply is limited. I just checked FlyingJ prices from here to Toronto and diesel is still a penny or two cheaper in town then all across the country. Looking at the gas prices as well, our gas is dirt cheap right now compared to the rest of the country.Ben

It is always more expensive in the winter.
As I understand it one of the main hydrotreaters was down causing a local shortage and amplifying the seasonal cost increase.Comment
