It likely cost California a more of money to drain all the fluids and scrap the car then it would have made in tickets.

After reading that and seeing the pics i was a little suspicious they would crush a car with no interior no wheels, etc.
Sounds like this was a prototype for California testing and was crushed at the request of the manufacturer, and there are similiar videos for other cars posted.
