Rental Management Company?

Has anyone ever dealt with one before?

Might be getting a job out of province in the near future but I don't want to sell my house here in Calgary quite yet.
I'd like to rent the house out but wouldn't really be able to do so easily living 1000kms away.

Any suggestions?

Dont know much about rental agencies, but our neighbor rented his house out through "Hope Street", and it was nothing but problems for both sides (renter and owner). The agency refused to allow communication between the renter and owner directly, and miscommunicated a ton of stuff between them as well. Definitely stay away from Hope Street if you're looking into doing it.

I have a client who uses this company for a few properties, I think it has been ok.

I heard of this company called "Graeme's Mom" - I heard they did a good job.

"Graeme's mom" is moving away from Calgary as well so that won't work very well.

I have a job opportunity in Vancouver.

Parents are moving out to Shuswap next fall, maybe earlier.

check out this forum. i'm sure someone has had a good experience with a property manger on there and posted about it. rentals are a pain so i hope you find a good company.

I've been using York West for the last decade or so with between 4 and 6 places. I've tried out some other ones and frankly they all suck in a similar manner. You will be pissed off with any of them for something at some point.

I have been renting the property out for the past 15 months so I know of some of the piss offs that go with it. I'm just hoping a good management will make things go smoother while I'm living out of town.
