Re: Metalnerd tools?
Got all me tools from Brian Roseland out east, although you could source locally everything if you want.
The oil filter socket I am sure snapon or somebody like that must have. I am sure that all the local euro shops didn't got metalnerd to get their filter wrench.
Oil pan tool, well you can use it, but there is another way. After my brother screwed up the allen key center on the two bolts you need it on I figured out another way. I just used a 10mm and a swivel adapter on 1/4 inch drive. I would recommend getting a 1/4 drive swivel 10 mm socket. One piece instead of two would work best and you could probably find locally.
Metal drain plug, I would be surprised if concept1 didn't carry it. Now if its in stock is another thing, but they should carry it.
The job is pretty easy, worst part was the wait for the gasket to cure as they say to wait 24 hours. That's just the stuff my brother typically uses, I haven't really looked in a long time for anything better as I have had the hybrid on the jetta for a few years now.Ben

Re: Metalnerd tools?
Yeah. I've done my fair share of oil pan replacements. Just get some swivel extensions from princess auto. I've had the best of luck with those. Use 1/4" 10mm socket and two small wobble extensions and you're good to go. Make sure to start them all by hand before you use the air rachet or even hand ratchet. You can buy the gasket sealant at crappy tire. Its like $102001 Jetta TDI GL Silver

Re: Metalnerd tools?
Did a google search for a minute, 32 mm socket should work as well. $7+change from Princess Auto, half the price of the metalnerd from idparts. I will throw on my 32 mm and see how she fits when time allows.Ben
